Downtown areas help define communities and invigorate tourism. The State of Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) administers the Downtown Revitalization Program to assist with impactful downtown improvement projects to revitalize the cultural heartbeat of communities through redevelopment. These projects eliminate slum and blight conditions on the front and selected side facades of eligible buildings in core downtown areas, and address code violations for commercial structures. Sub recipients are prohibited from using Downtown Revitalization program funds for improvements related to residential portions of mixed-use buildings. Project buildings must be situated within a downtown target area as defined by the community, in which at least 25% of all buildings are judged through individual surveys and documentation to be in fair and/or poor condition.

For more information on the CDBG Downtown Revitalization Program or if you need assistance developing the application, please contact Debbie Feeback, Chief Development Officer at debbie.feeback@ded.mo.gov or Harry E. Bozoian, CBDG Planning Specialist at harry.bozoian@ded.mo.gov

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in the Intern and Apprentice Recruitment Act Program (IARA).  The IARA program passed by the 2023 General Assembly in House Bill No. 417 allows eligible taxpayers to claim a tax credit against the taxpayer’s state tax liability for hiring interns or apprentices provided that the number of interns and apprentices employed during the tax year exceeds the average number of interns and apprentices employed by the taxpayer for the previous three years. IARA encourages businesses to grow the number of interns and apprentices they employ and thus secure and retain workforce talent within the state.

Eligible taxpayers include any individual, firm, partner in a firm, corporation, partnership, shareholder in an S corporation, or member of a limited liability company subject to the state income tax imposed under chapter 143, 147, 148, or 153, excluding the withholding tax imposed under sections 143.191 to 143.265.

Eligible taxpayers will be issued an income tax credit for hiring interns or apprentices who meet program terms equal to $1,500 per intern or apprentice up to $9,000 per taxpayer per year.
